Texas Women Anglers Tournament

The Texas Women Anglers Tournament (TWAT) is a women-only, family-run fishing tournament held each summer in Port Aransas. Founded in the 1980s, the tournament was created to raise funds for The Purple Door and has grown into one of the area’s most anticipated annual events.

What began in 1989 with just 18 boats has expanded to an average of 40 boats and over 300 participants each year. The tournament brings together women from across Texas and beyond for a weekend of friendly competition, community, and support for a meaningful local cause.
