If you are heading to Port Aransas for a special occasion, take advantage of some unique experiences to make your trip even more memorable! Whether you’re headed down for a family reunion, bachelor or bachelorette party, or special weekend with friends, here are some activities to consider for an unforgettable getaway:
1. Hire a professional bonfire builder
Since opening in 2016, Paul and Valerie Bradley of Slow Ur Roll Port A have been creating amazing beach bonfire experiences. This power couple offers beautifully built fire pits with packages that include various options for seating, s’mores, and music – and they also offer custom or themed packages upon request! You can book them on their website.
2. Hire a private fishing guide
Deep Sea Headquartes is your one stop shop for all things fishing in Port Aransas. Don’t let the name fool you, they offer both offshore and bay fishing trips. They can also help you find the ideal fishing guide specific for your needs.
Wood Guide Service holds year-round fishing charters and is perfect for anyone from the advanced to the beginner! Expeditions will target Redfish, Blackdrum, Trout and Sheepshead depending on the time of year. You’ll set sail with owner and Captain JR Wood, who used to be a bronc-riding cowboy in Kansas and is now a fish-catching connoisseur. He was voted Boatmen of the Year in 2019 by Port Aransas Boatmen Inc. and says he usually wants his customers to catch fish more than they want to! Head over to Wood’s Instagram page and you’ll see tons of happy customers – fish in hand.
3. Schedule professional surfing lessons
Texas Surf Camps offers private surfing and paddleboard lessons for all ages and skill levels year-round. All equipment is provided and with rates starting at $50, they are an affordable option for a fun experience in the water. With several seasoned instructors on their staff, this organization delivers when it comes to experience, teaching skills, and safety. All instructors are certified in CPR and First Aid, and many are also certified Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguards.
4. Go parasailing
Take to the sky with Chute ‘Em Up Parasail and enjoy an exhilarating ride with amazing sights! You’ll strap into a swing-like harness and be pulled gently into the air by a parachute. With 500 feet of line, you’ll be reeled up to heights of up to 300 feet. Riders will take in views of the Gulf of Mexico, the Aransas Pass lighthouse, Aransas Bay, St. Joseph’s Island, and of course, dolphins playing in the water below! Walk-ins are welcome, but booking an appointment is the best way to secure a spot. With prices under $100, this is another great option for fun in the sun without breaking the bank!
