Beach Days Are the Best Days On Your Texas Summer Vacation
We’re sure you aren’t surprised that the number one summer activity in Port Aransas is a beach day and because our summer sanctuaries are located right on the water, all you need to do is step outside, walk a few steps and all the fun of sun, sand, and surf will be yours. Build sandcastles at shore’s edge, sip margaritas while under the shade of a colorful umbrella or rent jet skis from Gettin’ Salty Watersports (815 Trout Street Slip 7 #1908) and spend your day zipping around the Gulf.
Angler’s Delight
Fishing is actually a year round thrill here in Port Aransas, but there is just something about a summer day that makes the activity even more wonderful. Book a fishing charter from Fisherman’s Wharf Port Aransas or grab a pole and your fishing license and head over to the Port Aransas South Jetty and catch your limit on this beautiful summer’s day, taking it back home to grill in the barbecue area of your condo.
Ahoy There Matey!
When traveling with children it can often be difficult to find activities that everyone will enjoy, especially the younger ones, but Red Dragon Pirate’s Cruises will prove to you how different your Port A getaway will be. Offering an authentic pirate experience without all that walking the plank nonsense, there will be cannon fire, sword fights, treasure hunting, and beer. A full bar ensures that parents will love the experience as much as their tiny buccaneers! Book your tickets here.

The Fees You May Forget

Although Port Aransas is actually quite affordable, there are some fees and additional charges that could push you over your budget limits if you didn’t read about them here. Parking at the beaches of Port Aransas, for example will cost you a onetime fee of $12 during your 2025 visit, as the parking fee is an annual one. If you return again in 2026 you will have to pay it again. If you plan on doing any fishing during your Texas trip of a lifetime, a fishing license will set you back $16 for an all water (salt or fresh) license. And finally, a visit to the historic Horace Caldwell Pier, costs $3 per person to explore and $4 per fishing pole. None of these are particularly expensive, unless you are traveling with a large group, but they are convenient facts to know.
Angler’s Delight
Port Aransas is known as the Fishing Capital of Texas, enticing anglers from all over the world to make their way to our “doorstep.” And although you can fish for as little as the cost of a fishing license when fishing from the Port Aransas Jetty, the excitement of a fishing charter takes your vacation story to the next level of wonderful. There are many wonderful companies that will take amateur anglers out to the deep waters, including Port Aransas Fisherman’s Wharf. Offering bay expeditions that keep you inshore and last just 3 hours long, you may even discover a shark dangling at the business end of your line, with this tour costing between $35 to $60 per person. But when the siren’s call of the sea calls, you can answer easily with their deep water expeditions that last anywhere from 6 hours all the way up to a whopping 56 hours of fishing time! The 6-hour excursion costs between $80 and $125 and will target a variety of species, including red snapper when in season.
