Port A Is Turning Up the Volume This Labor Day Weekend

If live music is your kind of nightlife, this is a great weekend to be in Port Aransas. From country and Texas favorites to local musicians and laid-back island performances, you’ll find music happening all around town.

Friday, September 4

Start the weekend with Clay Hollis at Sip Yard Port Aransas. Known for his rich vocals and honky-tonk-driven country sound, Hollis is a great way to kick off a long weekend on the island.

You can also catch Splendiferous at Treasure Island, one of Port A’s favorite outdoor entertainment spots.

And if you’re heading to the First Friday Art Reception at the Port Aransas Art Center, you’ll find live music there along with local art and refreshments.

Saturday, September 5

Saturday night brings one of the weekend’s biggest events: the Labor Day Weekend Concert at Palmilla Beach Resort & Golf Community.

Django Walker + Sundance Head take the stage at Palm Plaza from 7–10 p.m. for Palmilla’s final big concert of the summer. Think Gulf breezes, live Texas music, and a Saturday night at the coast—pretty hard to beat.

Another Port A favorite, Larry Joe Taylor, will be performing Saturday at Sip Yard Port Aransas, giving country and Texas music fans another reason to make a night of it.

Sunday, September 6

Keep the weekend going Sunday with more live music around town.

Catch the Clark Bros at Salty Dog Saloon, or head over to Shorty’s Place, one of Port Aransas’ longtime local hangouts, where Jim Dugan and Ty Dietz are part of the Sunday music lineup.

Add in karaoke and other performances at venues around the island, and there’s no reason to call it an early night.

The best part? In Port A, you can spend all day barefoot on the beach, head back to your condo to clean up, and be listening to live music with a cold drink in your hand that evening.
