Beachtober in Port Aransas: Fall Fun, Island Style
October is one of the best times to enjoy Port Aransas. The summer rush begins to ease, but the beach, Gulf breezes, local restaurants, live music, shopping, and island atmosphere are still going strong. Around here, fall has its own name: Beachtober.
Throughout October, Port Aransas turns the traditional idea of fall on its head. Instead of sweaters and chilly weather, think beach walks, tacos and margaritas, live music under the stars, local shopping, sailing, and a run along the Gulf.
Whether you’re staying the whole month or just in for the weekend, there’s plenty happening throughout October. Here are some of the highlights to put on your calendar.
Taco & Margarita Trail | October 1–31
Why settle for one favorite when you can taste your way around Port A?
The Taco & Margarita Trail runs throughout October, with participating Port Aransas restaurants creating their own taco-and-margarita combinations. It’s a fun excuse to revisit an old favorite or discover somewhere new while exploring the island.
Because the trail lasts all month, there’s no need to fit everything into one weekend. Pick a few stops during each visit and enjoy Beachtober at your own pace.
Beachtober Beats | Fridays in October
Friday nights sound a little better during Beachtober.
Beachtober Beats returns in 2026 with Friday-night live music at Sip Yard Port Aransas. This year’s series features five Friday-night tribute-band performances, giving residents and visitors another reason to turn an October weekend into a Port A getaway.
Spend Friday afternoon at the beach, grab dinner in town, and finish the evening with live music under the stars—it’s a pretty great way to start an island weekend.
Redneck Riviera Chili Cook Off | October 3–4
Kick off Beachtober with some Texas-sized flavor at the Redneck Riviera Chili Cook Off, happening October 3–4 in Port Aransas.
Come hungry, enjoy some seriously good chili, and support a great local cause while you’re at it. The event benefits the Port Aransas Animal Shelter, helping support the care and well-being of animals in our island community.
It’s a fun way to spend an early-October weekend in Port A—great food, good company, and a chance to give back to some of the island’s four-legged residents.
Shoptober | October 16–18
Beachtober isn’t only about food and music. Shoptober—Port Aransas’ Fall Shop Around—is a chance to spend the weekend exploring local boutiques, shops, and island businesses.
Look for seasonal specials and opportunities to score deals on everything from coastal clothing and accessories to those Port A finds you meant to pick up during the summer.
Harvest Moon Regatta | October 22–24
Late October brings one of the Gulf Coast’s great sailing traditions to Port Aransas: the 39th Annual Harvest Moon Regatta.
The offshore race begins on Thursday, October 22, with sailors racing down the Texas coast toward Port Aransas. Festivities continue through Saturday, including the regatta party from 4–7 p.m. and awards at 7 p.m. on October 24.
Even if you aren’t racing, seeing the boats arrive in Port A makes this an especially memorable weekend to be on the island.
Flynn’s Beach Run | October 24
Finish Beachtober with your feet in the sand at Flynn’s Beach Run, happening Saturday, October 24, 2026.
Participants can choose from a 5K, 10K, or family-friendly fun run, all with the Port Aransas shoreline as the backdrop. Whether you’re chasing a finish time or simply looking for a fun activity with family and friends, this is a uniquely Port A way to get moving.
Make October a Port A Month
One of the best things about Beachtober is that you don’t have to choose just one weekend. The Taco & Margarita Trail runs October 1–31, Beachtober Beats brings live music every Friday, and special events are spread throughout the month.
So mark your calendar, invite your family and friends, and make plans for a little extra island time this October. Fall looks better from Port Aransas.
